April 2, 2020 - 10:30AM

Governor Abbott has extended the closure of schools across the State of Texas until at least May 4, 2020.  We remain hopeful that we can welcome our students back during that week. Until then, APISD will continue providing meals Monday through Friday in front of Faulk Elementary between 11:30-1:00 p.m. Distance Learning for all students will also continue with all assignments available on-line or in a printed packet. Packet pick-up and drop-off will be available at each campus during the following times during April:

Aransas Pass High School             Weekly Assignments Every Monday between 8AM-4PM

All other campuses Two Weeks of Assignments            April 6 and April 20 between 8AM-4PM

If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or campus administrator via email. All staff emails may be found in the staff directory on our website.

Please let your children know how much we miss seeing them each day. We know that this time is very difficult on everyone and we are ready to support you in anyway we have available. We all must commit ourselves to social distancing for the rest of this month so that we can end this crisis and get back to our normal lives. I pray each of you stay healthy and strong during this time.

Sincerely,

Cara Cooke

The Stay-at-Home order for the City of Aransas Pass will go into effect as of tonight at 11:59PM (read the full order here).
This order does not impact parents traveling to and from campuses for Distance Learning Packet Pick-Up and Drop-Off on Mondays.

Additionally, we will continue to offer Curbside Grab-and-Go Breakfast and Lunch for all children ages 18 and younger every weekday at Faulk from 11:30AM-1PM.
Campus staff members will continue to take their temperatures when reporting to campuses and will continue to wear gloves during packet pickup/drop-off and when handing out meals. Staff will also continue to practice social distancing, and there will be no more than 10 staff members at each campus.

Dear Aransas Pass ISD Parents/Guardians,

Given the rapidly evolving situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, Aransas Pass ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Thursday, April 9th, in an effort to support our nation’s need to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.

Distance learning will take place beginning Monday, March 23rd through Thursday, April 9th.  All students will be provided instructional support from APISD teachers beginning Monday, March 23rd.  Details will be announced very soon.

Friday, April 10th will continue to be a student and staff holiday.

Monday, April 13th will be a professional development day (no classes for students).

The first day students will attend classes on campus will be Tuesday, April 14th.

Our health officials report that cases are continuing to spread in the state and confirmed cases in our area seems very likely. Suspending operations for this length of time will allow us to determine, in coordination with local health officials, whether the virus has been contained. We are coordinating with other school districts in our area and will use the week of April 6th to make any decisions on whether there is a need to extend the suspension of classes on campuses (and extend distance learning opportunities) further.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol.  We want to reiterate a request to our broader community to take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness:

  • Do not shake hands.
  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Limit movement within the community, especially avoiding crowded places and maintaining 3 to 6 ft. of distance between people (at least an arm’s length).
  • If you are moving around in the community, do not congregate in large groups.
  • For those who have traveled to areas with known COVID-19 cases – both inside and outside of the country – it is highly recommended that you self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms for 14 days.
  • If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19, call your health care provider for medical advice.
  • Keep your child at home.
  • Do not leave the house if you are ill, except to access medical care.

This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information, will assess conditions throughout the week, and will provide needed updates via our website and email.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we ensure that all members of our Panther community stay safe and healthy while continuing their learning.

Sincerely,

Cara Cooke

Aransas Pass ISD will extend Spring Break for an additional week with no school and no extracurricular activities until Monday, March 23, 2020. All APISD teachers and staff are asked to remain in the local area, and anticipate further direction from supervisors.

March 13, 2020 - 11:15AM

Dear APISD Family,

Aransas Pass ISD is aware of recent announcements from some local school districts and colleges in response to the coronavirus. At this point it has not been recommended that we close. We are in communication with the county, CDC officials, and other area school districts with several conference calls in place this afternoon. The health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will monitor the situation and make additional announcements as needed. Please continued to check the district website and social media for further updates. For more information on the coronavirus, please visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention at www.cdc.gov/COVID19.

Sincerely,
