Aransas Pass ISD Superintendent Dr. Glenn Barnes has announced the hiring of Heather Waugh-Hurta to serve as the district’s Curriculum Director. Waugh-Hurta will join APISD after most recently serving as an elementary Principal at Taft ISD.
Waugh-Hurta has 22 years of experience in the field of education. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Waugh-Hurta taught elementary and middle school students in subjects including Math, Science, and English Reading Language Arts. She gained valuable insights and contributed to the educational community during her tenure as a middle school Assistant Principal and Principal at Ingleside ISD. She has also made significant contributions as an Administrator of Initiatives, Trainer of Trainers and Principal Coach at the Education Service Centers in Region 2 and Region 3.
Waugh-Hurta and her husband are lifelong residents of the Coastal Bend. She is the proud parent of a junior at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Outside of professional commitments, Waugh-Hurta cherishes moments with her family and finds solace in being out on the water.
