JET grant

In May 2023, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) awarded Aransas Pass ISD over $1.4 million through the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant. This was the largest JET Grant award in the Coastal Bend for the 2022 fiscal year.

APISD utilized grant funding to equip state-of-the-art labs for CTE pathways to support the continued success of Aransas Pass ISD students as they earn licenses, certifications, or post-secondary degrees in high-demand, high-paying occupations in healthcare and welding. In March 2024, APISD finalized the expenditure, installation, and training for all equipment purchased through the JET grant. Equipment purchased with grant funding includes welding machines and booths, a plasma table, pipe fitting stations, two 3D anatomy visualization and virtual dissection platforms, highly realistic healthcare simulation training manikins, and stations for patient care, medication administration, electrocardiogram, and phlebotomy.

Aransas Pass High School students will be eligible to earn certifications including Phlebotomy Technician, Certified EKG Technician, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, AWS D9.1 Sheet Metal Welding, and AWS D1.1 Structural Steel.
