Aransas Pass ISD Superintendent Dr. Glenn Barnes has announced the hiring of Stephen Gillis to serve as Assistant Principal at H.T. Faulk Elementary School. Gillis will join APISD after most recently teaching at Rockport-Fulton ISD.
Gillis earned his Bachelor of Art in Kinesiology from Texas Lutheran University, and his Master of Education and Principal Certification from Concordia University.
Gillis has 26 years of experience in the field of education. Gillis served students at Rockport-Fulton ISD and Lockhart ISD as a Physics Teacher and Coach, at Prairie Lee ISD as a 7th through 12th grade Science Teacher and Coach, and at Industrial ISD as a Coach and Kindergarten through 5th grade Physical Education Teacher. Gillis also has 16 years of coaching experience in sports including football, baseball, and golf, with 6 years as the Head Baseball Coach at Industrial ISD.
Gillis has been married to his wife, Claire, for 27 years, and they have a 26-year-old son, Joshua. Gillis and his family have lived in the Coastal Bend for the last two years, and love living in the area, with fishing and fun at the beach as their go-to hobbies.
“I am excited and blessed to have the opportunity to serve as an administrator in APISD at Faulk Elementary School,” says Gillis. “I look forward to serving and working with the staff and students in laying a solid foundation of learning and success from which our students can build on in their educational journey".
