Press Release

The Cleveland ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Glenn Barnes, current Superintendent of Aransas Pass ISD, as the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Cleveland ISD. In accordance with state law, a 21-day waiting period is required before the CISD Board can officially hire Dr. Barnes for the position.

During this period, Dr. Barnes will continue his duties and support to Aransas Pass ISD.  He will work closely with the district staff and campus leaders to ensure the District has a leadership transition plan. In the coming weeks, the APISD Board of Trustees will determine plans regarding interim leadership and superintendent search process.

“I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve Aransas Pass ISD,” said Dr. Barnes. “Aransas Pass is a great community with a bright future. Working together with the Board of Trustees, district leadership, and district staff, we have laid the groundwork for an outstanding future for the Panther Nation. I will be forever grateful for the support and friendships made throughout the community both inside and outside the school district.”

“As always, we continue to wish the best for Dr. Barnes. We appreciate Dr. Barnes’ leadership and steadfastness while enhancing student-centered priorities, employee development, and well-being of the District” said APISD Board President Wanese Butler.

Future APISD Board communications are anticipated upon the CISD Board finalizing its current superintendent search proceedings.
